About Hydrotherapy

Advanced Constitutional Hydrotherapy Center

Application of Hot and Cold Towels in a specific sequence that has been written about with possible benefits to detox, stimulate immune function, and improve digestion and assimilation.  The alternation of hot and cold may allow the body to absorb water (hydration), increase oxygen, increase circulation, move white blood cells which may naturally act to normalize compensatory mechanisms of the body thus it has potential to decrease body fat, decrease pain, decrease lipids in the blood, increase sub-optimal body temperatures, and decrease mean arterial blood pressure. Electrical stimulation via sine wave or diathermy may be applied, when indicated to intensify and shorten the time of therapy.

Please note: use of the word "may" is protective as is needed in our present day society to not claim outcomes. Consider this informational only.

Effects of Hot Water

Hot towels and hot water draws blood to the surface of the skin via vasodilation, thus opening the pores and making the person prespire.  Long-standing heat (longer than 5 minutes) causes venostasis.

Effects of Cold Water

The application of cold water first causes movement of blood from the dilated, superficial skin vessels into the core of the body where the vital organs are located.  Then, due to the law of dual effect, the body attempts to normalize by recirculating blood back to the skin.
